In the north of Ecuador, the Esmeralda province has plenty nice and inviting beaches you can visit throughout the year. 30km from the capital of the Esmeraldas province, is Atacames with its great hotel infrastructure. Along the pier you will find most restaurants with delicious food from the region. On the beach, different small bars offer their tropical cocktails of coconut and juicy fruits. You can also go for a walk along the main road to buy or admire the handcrafts and the objects of corral and shell. 5 kilometers away is Súa, a calm town of fishermen that also offers nice places for accommodation and tasty food; the main ingredients are seafood and coconut. In Esmeraldas province the delicious "encocados de pescado", crab and shrimps are also prepared. Other well-known beaches are Tonchigue, Playa Ancha, Tonsupa or Castelnuovo.
